From the ever expanding universe to black holes: my further reading of Mr Hawking's book

Today I read about electrons, positrons, anti-electrons - in fact anti-everything and how the universe was probably created by an almighty annihilation of just about everything in it and here we are with what's left, the bits that got left behind, the particles that weren't wiped out in the almighty kaboom.  Well, that's the theory anyway, and it certainly isn't a terrible one.

You have to admire Stephen Hawking. What a mind.   I asked a friend of mine if they knew who he was; if they'd heard of him.  They replied indignantly "Well of course" and when I pressed them they mentioned the "Go Compare" advertisement..... I'm sure they were just kidding..... they were kidding, weren't they?

On the way home today I managed to read and finish the chapter on Black Holes.  I'm not sure if I will read anymore tonight, in fact, I'm pretty actually certain I won't - you see I've filled up my brain with scientific concepts that I normally am much more comfortable at being exposed to via the sci-fi medium, any sci-fi medium.  Basically, this little brain of mine just cannot take any more in.  Once again it tried to distract me at every step of the way, but I actually managed to focus much better than when I first began reading this a week ago.  There was still some re-reading that needed to be done, but not every paragraph.

I had so much to do on coming home today, so much that I wanted to do - mainly it was to get some parcels ready to send to the kids (the grandkids already got theirs, on time!).  Now I'm ready for a nice sleep.  Honestly, I am thinking of nothing else.

Tomorrow, I'm fairly certain that I will actually finish my very first book from the list.  Which is good news because I combined the two lists I now have and I ended up with 147 books.  I'm still going to whittle this down to a cool 100... or maybe I can get away with 125?  Surely I can read 125 books in a year....  can't I?  It's just very hard to make a choice about what should stay and what should go.  The James Bond archives is definitely out.... £100+ pounds for a picture book, I mean, seriously?  And maybe Robin Hobb's latest instalment too.  My mate +kym brown informs me that there are about 12 prequels to read, and I just can't afford to add any more books to my list.

Och!  I must definitely be recovering from my gluten poisoning... I'm practically bursting with confidence.
